Project 3: Collage Environment

The message I based my Collage on is "Don't Give Up". The Bridge represents the easy route that many people get to  take, the darkness to the right represents the problems that some people encounter, the fire represents the obstacle that has to be overcome to allow you to allow you to achieve what you want to achieve.

Exquisite Corpse

Above is my exquisite corpse that was based off of the Business Frog sketch, I wanted to show that the frog is leaving work, which is why I put a city in the background. I chose to remove the cigar from the frog as I didn't think it would fit with my version.

Final Icon

Final Icon

Above is my final icon. The inspiration for this came from two of my original sketches, when the sketches were critiqued in class, one of the suggestions I received was to combine two of my original sketches. Below are the two original sketches, the blue chair from the first sketch and the wrench from the second sketch were the aspects of both that I incorporated into the design of the final icon.

In terms of the color choices for the logo I chose blue as its a color that is peaceful and tranquil, which something that these custom made chairs will do for their customers. The Point of the wrench is to show that the customer will have a chair that is built to accommodate their needs. I also wanted the text to be as simple in appearance as well as color, the reasons for this was to prevent distraction from the rest of the logo.

Logo Comparison: Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro

Above are the logos for two professional video editing software the one on the right is Adobe Premiere Pro and the one on the left is Apple Final Cut Pro. Both of these programs are aimed at professional video and film makers and make it possible to edit video clips in more advanced ways compared to very basic editor that are free and ship with some computers.

The Premiere Pro logo is quite simple and fits in well with the logo for all the other programs in adobe's creative cloud lineup. The color choice to me doesn't make a huge difference with this Icon as all Adobe Icons are very similar in terms of design. However this logo isn't successful in conveying what the program does, but this may not be Adobe's focus because they are targeting professional video creators/editors and these types of customers are likely to do a lot of research before buying an expensive video editing program and therefore will not need to know what the product is based on its logo.

The Final Cut Pro logo gives anyone the impression that its something video related and I think the use of the rainbow of colors gives the impression that you can adjust the video to make it look the way you want it to. I feel that Final cuts logo is successful because any one can look at know what the program relates to, you might not know its exact function just by looking at its icon.

Overall I feel that Final Cuts Logo is more successful as gives everyone an idea of what it does whereas Premiere Pro's logo is just one that matches inline with the rest of the Adobe Suite, though this is not a bad thing as it increases brand awareness if all icons are similar, but doesn't really tell us anything about the program's function and purpose.

About

Who is Max Pairaudeau?

Max Pairaudeau is from the Cayman Islands and his major is accounting. Some of his interests include animals, technology as well as how that new technology effects our daily lives and the operations of businesses.

One of the things he hopes to gain from this Digital Media course is another angle of art, this is important to him as he has never been good at traditional art, such as painting. The Digital aspects of this course should capture his focus as it will allow him to use technology to create. Moreover this type of media is extremely important for marketing products and businesses and he hopes this will give him some more insight into marketing as well as graphic design.

Ideas for Fictional Companies

·      Below you will find 5 ideas for possible companies and products or services to go along with them.

    Custom Seating Manufacturer
o   Designing custom chairs for a variety of purposes ranging from desk chairs, to sofas and dining chairs.
o   The main purpose is to build chairs to meet the customers needs, therefore no two chairs will be designed in the same way, however to meet the needs of multiple users of a chair, such as a family office chair, a chair would be designed to accommodate all users this would be done by conducting the same measurement and design procedures used to create a chair for an individual for each user, the chair would then be built with a memory function, similar to that of a power car seat and this would then adjust the chair to the custom seating position for the user.
o   There will be a website and mobile app to allow users to make chair adjustments if they are unhappy with the way the chair has been moulded/designed for them, if after making the adjustments online the chair still isn’t right it can be sent back to the factory to be adjusted to better meet the user(s) needs
·      Product Matching Services
o   The main aim is to find customers the product that will meet their needs best this could include things like the perfect car, perfect computer, perfect television or house hold appliance, etc. Also to make sure that customers don’t spend large sums of money and end up unhappy with their purchase decision
o   This type of business/ service would give the consumer extra piece of mind as secondary research will have been conducted by this independent service meaning there is lower chance of unexpected surprises when the customer makes the decision to purchase a product.
o   The best plan would be to start by specializing in one or two types of matching to gain market awareness and then branch out into to other areas. I.e. starting with car matching and branching out into appliance matching.
·      Breakfast Focused Restaurant with drive through
o   Yes, this may seem slightly unoriginal as many fast food restaurants already serve breakfast, however they don’t serve high-quality freshly made breakfast items as many of these restaurant simply reheat frozen/refrigerated items, this would offer freshly cooked breakfast items such pancakes, waffles and French toast, this would allow someone to get a fresh breakfast and take it to work with them in the morning.
·      Restaurants focused on healthy eating and using highest quality ingredients
o   Increase awareness of the risk of not living a healthy life style, this means that more and more people are trying to eat a healthy, balanced diet, however there are some reasons why this healthy eating hasn’t taken off, simply its just too expensive to do for a lot of people.
o   For this restaurant the prices would still feature a premium on top of traditional less healthy dining options however, the difference is the cost will still be less than the most high quality restaurants, the way this will be done is by offering slightly lower quality than expensive restaurants mentioned previously but still much better quality than traditional dining options, also the restaurant will have limited staff, instead tablets on the tables can be used to place orders, take out orders can be done online or via a mobile app. Both of these methods will allow the cost to be further reduced leading to lower prices or higher profits, more likely the former rather than the latter.
·  Noise Cancelling ear plugs- worn at night

o   These would be worn at night or anytime someone wants to try and escape from the world around them
o   Can be used by light sleepers who are easily awoken therefore leading to a better night sleep.
o   Prevents disturbances from others in the home/room. For example, a roommate that snores very loudly.
o   Marketing
§  Focus promotional material on relatable scenarios, this could give those who are dealing with these problems
